Catholic Life of the School

The Liturgy Team 2017-18

Hello we are the Liturgy Team. Mairead, Olivia, Ruby, Ava, Molly, Thomas and Jake.

Every year the Liturgy proceeds in various activities to make our school happy and holy place. We also spread the good news in our community through making and delivering cards to nearby neighbours. We also do charity work for our local community and global community. Each year we visit Christ the King Cathedral and take toys at Christmas for those less fortunate. We like to plan and deliver collective worships .Mass and work with Father Kieran.

Lent 2018

As part of our Lenten preparations Father Kieran delivered meditation sessions with each class in KS 2. The children listened to a reading from the gospel and then were asked to think about strengthening their relationship with God and making time to pray. The meditation ended with all children placing a stone of the focus table to make a cross.

Memorial Service Monday 12th February 2018

In loving memory of Mrs Susan Twist: 9th October 1958 – 19th November 2017

The school community gathered with Mrs Twist’s family for this special remembrance service to celebrate her life and give thanks for all that she did for our school community.

Mrs Twist had been the business manager at XII Apostles for over 25 years and during that time impacted on the lives of so many. She was a dear friend and colleague to us all.

The liturgy team helped to prepare and lead the service. Mrs Twist loved ‘Take That’ so Mr Rowlands taught the children ‘Greatest day’ and they sang beautifully.

The children wrote poems, prayers, thoughts and memories and many were read out at the service. These were presented to the family in scrapbooks. Gary Senior attended the service on behalf of the archdiocese and presented the family with a certificate in recognition of Mrs Twist’s long service to the school.

The liturgy team worked with artist Victoria Hough to create a piece of artwork to be displayed in school as a permanent reminder of Mrs Twist. As you can see in the picture below they have included symbols to represent Mrs Twist and words and phrases taken from the book.

Father Kieran concluded the service by blessing the bench that Mrs Twist’s family had commissioned and that has been placed outside the office where she worked. To show our love and thanks balloons were sent up together with our prayers for Mrs Twist and her family.

They also took a piece of writing about a celebration special to them. This will be displayed in the children chapel.
