Whole school food and music festival - July 2022
Thursday 14th July was our whole school food and music festival. Each class made delicious festival food dishes as part of their design and technology projects and shared them with other classes.
Year 1 made smoothies, Year 2 made salads, Year 3 made sandwiches, Year 4 made potato salads, Year 5 made pies, Year 6 made cakes and sold them as part of their Enterprise project.
We also had a visit from Richard Waterfield (owner of local bakery and business, Waterfield’s). He looked around the food festival, spoke to children around school and met with school council from Key Stage 2. The children shared with him the work they did in preparation for the food festival in particular, the importance of using locally sourced ingredients, ensuring the food was healthy as possible and taking into account their market research.
The school councillors brought along samples from each of their classes and we asked Mr Waterfield to give feedback to the children. Some of the comments he made as he tasted the products were, ‘delicious, ‘baked to perfection’ and ‘presented beautifully.’
At the end of the visit, Mr Waterfield was keen to share how impressed he was with the products the children made, the food festival but most of all the way that the children who he had met, throughout the visit, had spoken to him. They were very polite, confident and knowledgeable.
We would like to thank Mr Waterfield for giving up his time to visit our food festival.
The children also enjoyed a silent disco and each class prepared a song for the end of festival show. We all had such a fantastic time, it was certainly a day to remember!
